Tobacco companies are trying to target the younger generation
in their advertisements rather than older people.
Tobacco companies target the young generation even though they
say they don't. They are targeting the younger people because
they need a more younger generation smoking because the last generation
is dying. The tobacco companies are using cartoons, cowboys, pretty
girls, sports, etc. in their ads to target young people. Do you
think many old people would be targeted by cartoons? The tobacco
companies want young people to smoke because they can buy packs
of cigarettes for decades until they get very sick or die.
Tobacco companies, especially the Camel company, targets young
people through a cartoon character, Joe Camel. There is a Camel
advertising campaign stating, thatthe objective of the advertising
is to leverage Camel's product and male user heritage so that
the brand becomes a relevant, appealing choice for today's younger
adult male smokers.
All kinds of tobacco companies advertise in sports magazines like
Sports Illustrated, Teen People and many others that teenagers
read everyday.
Tobacco companies do target teenagers in their advertisements.
They say they don't to the public but the truth is they do. They
use things like cartoon characters. They advertise in all the
magazines that younger people generally read everyday.
