I Play the Piano
By Kristen

I play the piano. I really enjoy it and I have been taking lessons for 5 years. I'm in level 4. I've competed in the Spiritwood Music Festival for 4 years and will be competing again this year. In my first year I played Scarborough Fair and placed 1st with a mark of 86. I also played The Singing Donkey and got 85 and placed 2nd. These were beginner level songs. For my second year I played The song called New Dolly Dances and placed 2nd with 85 and I played A First Sonitina andgot 1st with a mark of 86. Also, I played Largo and got 83 but didn't place anything. All these songs were level 1. In my 3rd year I played Minuet in G and placed 2nd with a mark of 85. I also played All the Birds Have Come Again and placed 1st with 86. These were level 2 songs. Last year (and my fourth year) I played March of the Goblins and got 1st with 87 and I played Bouree in G and got first with 87 again. I also played a duet with Kristophera guy in my class. It was called Argentino Tango. We got a mark of 89 and placed 1st. Then I got invited back to the final performance to play again. I won the Outstanding Solo, aged 10 years and a $50.00 scholarship. I will be performing in the festival again this year. The songs I will play are Minuet in G (a level 4 version), Romanze, Beauty and the Beast and a duet called Tango with my friend Hillary. I really enjoy piano and have played in many recitals. At the end of this year I will be taking my Grade 3 exam. You play a bunch of songs and scales and do piano exercises. It will be fun.
