FORD CANTELON STORY
Ford Cantelon Story Ford and Alice Cantelon, set
out from Perdue with their two daughters, Rita and Muriel, to
come to the Hillside district in 1934 to settle on N.E. 25-47-15-w3rd.
They built a two story house and settled down to farming in a
more northly country.
Muriel attended Ward School while Rita went into training for
a nurse in North Battleford Hospital, Rita later married Andy
Thue.
Alice and Ford were devoted attendants at the church services
at the school. Ford's booming voice is remembered by his friends
as he joined in the singing.
They were hospitable people. Their door was always open for neighbors
to come in and join them in a meal. Teachers who taught at Ward
School boarded at the Cantelon home. Ford was a great horse fancier.
He raised them, bought them and sold them and also drove a mighty
fine team.
He moved to Armstrong, British Columbia in 1942. Rita passed away
in 1977. Muriel lives in Armstrong. Ford passed away in March,
1966. Alice, now ninety years old, is residing at Willowdale
Home in Armstrong, British Columbia.
